oh hai!
I’m popping back in quickly because I have a super FUN post for you! I’ve been quite looking forward to this one!
Today a group of bloggers from a group I’m in are once again teaming up and creating a themed nail art look! Last time we all connected to share our Floral Nails, this time, we Gradient!!
So, sounds fun right?! I suck at gradients. All the time. I am messy at them, really messy, even though I use liquid latex all over, and my sponge ends up all gloopy-like. I don’t really like doing the polish gradient I think, (gel gradients I can handle!).
I don’t know why, but this one, after I hid it in my computer for two weeks, I actually really like now I’ve looked at it with fresh eyes. Does anyone else ever get that?
Anyway, wasting no time, here are my complicated looking gradient nails that aren’t really complicated. I’ll remind you again at the end of the post, don’t forget to travel through and check out all the other gradient nails by these super talented bloggers. I am so excited to see them, I’m sure they’ll all be amazing!
I started with a white base using Cirque Colors Carpe Diem.
Using a makeup sponge I applied a tropical looking gradient using three fabulous polishes by Miss Ashleigh. They are Like A Sunrise, Show Us Your Watermelons, and And It Was All Yellow.
It’s hard to see the base with all the stamping I did, but the colours are a pinky-melon, vibrant coral orange and bright yellow. They make a perfect gradient!
I decided to go all out and really rock out the gradient theme in what I am noticing to be a common theme of mine, overwork all the things! But it turned out ok.
I thought some gradient stamping was just the ticket, and thought I would sort of reverse colours so it really played tricks with my eyes.
I did a diagonal stamping design from Bundle Monster plate BM-XL02 and stamped using Pretty Serious Cosmetics Sugar Cakes (neon pink) and Hit The Bottle Hello Buttercup (bright shimmery yellow).
The polishes and the entire mani was super bright in reality, but they wouldn’t photograph as bright as they should be, neons right!!
As I’m posting this I really like the mind bending look I created here and am quite pleased with myself! Maybe gradients and me can be friends….
Please go ahead and look at all the work from the other participating bloggers as our timezones allow 🙂
Chris xx

Is this real life!? I vote for more gradients on you madame! (Although, I suck at them too :P) This is flawless. It totally gives me the feeling of Fall even though it’s bright. Maybe an Indian Summer vibe? Which makes me so excited for the season to start changing. Seriously gorgeous mani!

This is just so cool! It does play tricks on your eyes, but when you focus in, you see the gradients. Gorgeous!
I’ve never been able to really get a gradient in gel polish to work…you mentioned that you like those better. Do you use the same technique?

Thanks Emily. With gel I mix tiny amounts of the colours on a little tray thingy to get it blended, then I hold my brush flat and sort of dab it lightly where the colours need to blend, as it levels it kind of works itself out as long as I don’t work the gel too much. I should do one on here!
